About Me

I’m the heart and soul behind Real Life Recovery Co—bringing my own journey, experience, and a real commitment to helping you build lasting recovery.

My Journey to Recovery Counselling

My journey into substance misuse counselling began with my own recovery in 2018. Walking that path was life-changing and sparked a strong desire to support others.

In 2020, I founded an online alcohol support community, Smug Club, to provide peer support and connection for people facing similar challenges. The group continues to grow and remains an active, supportive space.

My desire to help others led me to volunteer with Substances Support Scotland (SSS) as a trainee alcohol and substance misuse counsellor. Alongside my volunteer role, I pursued formal training in counselling and psychology. As part of my volunteer practice, I also completed an Advanced Alcohol Counselling qualification.

My work with SSS progressed into a paid role, where I facilitated alcohol and substance support groups, and I currently work with SSS at the Victoria Hospital as an A&E Navigator. I support some of the most vulnerable patients affected by alcohol and substance misuse.

I Get It...

I'v had the anxiety, the fear, and the low moods that alcohol and substances creates. But I also understand the other side of it too: the buzz, the social pull, and how alcohol or substances can feel like a break from your problems, even if only for a while. No judgement. No lectures. Just real understanding, honest conversations, and support to help you decide what you want to do next.

Who I Help

Whether it’s:

  • a drinking habit that's increased over the years

  • weekend binge drinking

  • That nightly glass of wine that's slowly becoming a bottle (or two)
  • recreational drug use that’s starting to feel less “recreational”

  • Or you just want someone to chat to that gets it, and a bit of accountability to stay on track

You don’t have to have hit rock bottom to want something different. If you’re questioning your relationship with alcohol or substances, or just want a safe space to talk — I’m here, and I get it.

No judgement. Just honest conversations and practical support.

You only get one life, let me help you make the most of it
